Formed in 2017, the Maharaj/Degavino duo enjoys a busy concert diary. Some particular highlights have been performances at St Martin in the Fields, St James' Church, Piccadilly and Petworth Festival. They have enjoyed performing extensively for music societies throughout the U.K.
They are currently Countess of Munster Recital Scheme artists, Tunnell Trust award winners and Park Lane Group artists. In 2017, they won the Royal Academy of Music Flute Prize.
Meera Maharaj and Dominic Degavino both undertook postgraduate students in London, at the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama, respectively. Dominic studied with Charles Owen and Noriko Ogawa and has won a vast array of awards, most recently accepting a place on the Tillett Trust DEBUT recital scheme.
They were recently awarded a place on the Live Music Now Scheme and they were 2018/19 artists on the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots scheme.
They have enjoyed playing to a number of renowned coaches including Emily Beynon, William Bennett, Michael Cox, Wissam Boustany and Anna Noakes.
They both share a love of jazz, as well as contemporary classical music and endeavour to incorporate these interests into their recitals.
As both great duo partners as well as great friends, they can often be found on long walks in the park, culminating in a trip to the pub…
